Cervical Spondylitis is one of the major postural problems all around the world. More time on table and chair, more comfort zones while reading and watching TVs, incomplete knowledge about how to gaze at computer screen- these are few of the common reasons behind this common problem. This is a problem of elderly people, but can attack on anyone of any age.
As age progresses body starts behaving in different way. The first and foremost change is the lowering of the “adhesive” water force in the body. Body starts drying up, lust like any tree in nature. This happens, because body’s parts have achieved the complete level of growth and because growth is complete so body feels at saturation. This saturation point slows down the process of providing nutrition to the particular parts. This initiates decaying process in the body.
As per Ayurveda, body keeps on decaying every moment, this is the nature of the body because every one of us is a time bounded object!
This process of aging affects the bones first, because these achieve their age faster than any other part. Beside this ageing person who has some problem with metabolism of the calcium, they will be more prone to these changes of aging in the bones. As a result, bones will have some “spikes” on their ends and brims- which are commonly known as osteophytes. These osteophytes when appear in the cervical (neck) bones, these start causing pain in the neck region, which can be transferred in any of the limbs and back too. This condition is known as Cervical Spondylitis!
How come posture, effects this all?
When our posture is not right, we lose the curvature between the neck bones, which is fixed by nature so that we can use our neck. Once this curvature is lost, this leads to the problems with the neck region, because the osteophtytes make more pressure on the nerves and soft tissues between the neck bones.
There are three principles for the treatment of the Cervical Spondylitis in Ayurveda-
1. Correction of the calcium metabolism
2. Reduction of the inflammation in tissues
3. Correction of the posture
These are the main principles of the treatment; we opt for at eVaidyaJi Wellness. For severe cases of Cervical Spondylitis we too have facilities of the Panchakarma, but for acute and fresh cases medicines too work well. Read the following articles to understand more about Cervical Spondylitis.
