Yoga for Weight Loss
Weight gain results when a fellow is eating the food which is more than his/ her daily requirements. The energy associated with the extra food will get deposited in the body in the form of fat. It does not matter what is the composition of this extra food (i.e. it might be carbohydrates, fats or proteins). It will only convert in fat. When the food is dominated by the food stuffs other than the fat; our body has to put an extra effort to convert it in fat and it is definite; it will convert in fat.
One more thing when fat starts depositing in the body it results in nourishment of only the Meda Dhatu – the fat part of the body and other tissue systems remain deprived of the nourishment; this results in more craving for the food. This is the reason why a fellow with extra fats in his body has more appetite than a fellow with normal weight. In this way problem itself is working as the causative factor.
Sedentary type of lifestyle further adds in this problem. It results in sluggish metabolism and sedentary tendency in the body further adding up in weight gain.
So what should be done for healthy weight loss? Should a fellow minimize his eating? Or abruptly start with an exercise regime. Both of these will not be that much helpful as first one will only result in deprivation of the essential nutrients and energy requirements of the body; resulting in tendency to conserve the fat; not to loose. The second one will result in early exhaustion as it is never possible to loose fat with in few days. (We always wish to loose weight with in few days which we gained over a period of years; which is never possible). This exhaustion will result in craving for energy rich foods and a resting tendency; which will complicate the problem instead of solving it.
The answer for weight loss lies in healthy eating (which comprises of a balanced diet full of all essential nutrients) and proper exercise regime.
