Recommendation for Asthma

Diseases are caused by improper diet and lifestyle, so this is important to regulate and revert the course of the disease. Here are the diet and yoga recommendation for Asthma 

Recommended Diet for Asthma:

  • Among fruits, figs have proved very valuable in asthma. They give comfort to the patient by draining off the phlegm. Three or four dry figs should be cleaned thoroughly with warm water and soaked overnight. These should be eaten by the asthmatic patient empty stomach in morning.
  • Avoid fried and processed foods
  • Avoid food such as rice, curds, buttermilk, sugar, lentils, heavy milk products like cheese, paneer etc...which has natural tendency to produce the phlegm or to accumulate the mucus
  • Drink boiled water in plenty
  • Avoid over eating. Take light dinner one hour before going to bed
  • Avoid fruits such as guava, papaya, watermelon and banana
  • Take a mixture of 1 tablespoon of water and 2 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice twice a day.
  • Drink a glass of 2/3 carrot juice, 1/3 spinach juice, 3 times a day.
  • Mix 10 - 15 drops of garlic juice in warm water and take internally.
  • Take 10 cloves of garlic boiled with 30 ml of milk once a day.
  • Make paste of Black resin, dates, long Pippli (Piper longum) and honey, in equal quantity. Take one teaspoonful of it morning and evening with warm milk.
  • You should avoid common dietetic errors. Ideally, his diet should contain a limited quantity of carbohydrates, fats and proteins which are 'acid-forming' foods, and a liberal quantity of alkali-forming foods consisting of fresh fruits, green vegetables, sprouted seeds, and grains.
  • You should avoid foods which tend to produce phlegm, such as rice, sugar, lentils, and yoghurt.
  • You should also avoid fried and other difficult to-digest foods, strong tea, coffee, alcoholic beverages, condiments pickles, sauces and all refined and processed foods.

Preventive Tips for Asthma: 

  • Avoid cold and damp places.
  • Go for morning or evening walk, do yoga mainly 'Pranayama'
  • Avoid over eating. Take light dinner one hour before going to bed
  • Avoid Tobacco, wine and smoking
  • Keep rooms well ventilated. Avoid air conditioners, coolers and direct air of fan
  • Avoid perfumes, incenses. Mosquito repellents
  • Drink boiled water in plenty
  • Avoid sleeping in day time.

Yoga Recommendations for Asthma:
